Ander Herrera has told David De Gea to snub interest from Real Madrid so he can become a Manchester United legend like Peter Schmeichel or Edwin van der Sar.
De Gea has been linked with a move to the Spanish giants ahead of the summer transfer window after enjoying another impressive season at Old Trafford.
The Spaniard helped his side win the EFL Cup at Wembley on Sunday with a 3-2 victory over Southampton and now Herrera has told De Gea to stay and win more honours.
"He has a good contract here and he is valued a lot by the fans," Herrera told Cadena Ser. "He is a calm person. He is not anxious or in a hurry to make a change.
"We are winning titles and that helps. I don't even consider the possibility that he could leave.
"I want him to stay for many years and not just because he is my friend, but because there are not many goalkeepers that earn you points like he does.
"If he continues here, he will become a club legend as Schmeichel and Van der Sar. I believe he can surpass them. I think he has that in his mind."
